"Play & Learn" Traditional Trade & Cultural Activities

In order to promote George Town traditional and cultural trade activities more interesting and fun. Metro Bike designed a special " Play & Learn" program to allow tourists to explore and learnt about Penang traditional and cultural trade activities with hand-on experience for a journey of 3 hours.  

The program aims to provide tourists with a learning experience by Do-It-Yourself to hand on with the local trade secrets and skills. It involves about 5-6 trade experiences within the 3 hours. Firstly, the master of the trade or stall would demonstrate to the basic skills to produce the goods or services. You will then be self-assisted or being assisted to reproduce what had been taught.

This “Play & Learn” program makes it more interesting for activities for the adults. The planned activities consists of Do-it-Yourself hawker food makings & tastings, traditional trade skills and cultural arts.

Of course, we don't expect you are able to master skills within hours ( most of the traditional trade apparenticeship may take months or years). However, you would able to understand thier trade skills in terms of preparatory procedures, materials used, do & don't practise and the process of delivering it to become the end product or service.

In beween the distance of trade activities , you will also enjoy cycling or being pedaled by trishawman to discover the beauty of old Penang building architecture, multi-religious places and streets & backlanes. At the same time, this tour provide an opportunity for you to intereact with George Town living heritage.

Lastly, we hope to  keep you a memorable joyful moment of experiencing George Town “ Play & Learn” traditional trades and cultural activities in Penang.
